Attorney Tod Leaven, a Veterans law attorney and Veteran himself, founded the Grimes Teich Anderson Homeless Veterans Legal Clinic in 2015. Each Spring, Tod hosts the clinic and invites students from UNC Chapel Hill Law School’s Veterans Advocacy Legal Organization (VALOR) to join him in learning how to help homeless Veterans. Students dedicate their spring break to learning about Buncombe County’s Veterans Treatment Court and receive training on topics such as military discharge upgrades. They also visit the VA Hospital where they learn how to talk to veterans who suffer from PTSD and how to speak to those who were sexually assaulted while in the military.
