About Grimes Teich Anderson
Learn how our firm has grown since 1979 into a trusted advocate for individuals and families across North Carolina and South Carolina
Our story begins in 1978, when Henry “Hank” Teich moved to Asheville, North Carolina after graduating from law school in San Francisco. He set out to build both a legal career and a life rooted in service. Not long after arriving, Hank formed a friendship with Janson “Jan” Grimes, a Pitt County, North Carolina native and graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At the time, both attorneys practiced in the same downtown Asheville building. Hank soon joined Jan’s firm, and not long after, they founded their own general practice, Grimes & Teich, and laid the foundation for what would become Grimes Teich Anderson LLP.
Rooted in Public Service and Community Advocacy
From the beginning, our firm was built on a commitment to helping people navigate complex legal challenges. During our early years as a general practice, Hank also served the community as Assistant County Attorney for Buncombe County from 1980 to 1981 and later as Buncombe County Public Guardian for two decades. In that role, he managed the affairs of vulnerable adults and disabled veterans across North Carolina, reinforcing our firm’s dedication to advocacy and care.
Evolving Our Practice to Best Serve Our Clients Needs
As our firm evolved, so did our focus. We recognized a growing need for strong representation for individuals injured in accidents, hurt on the job, or facing denied Social Security Disability claims. We committed ourselves to these areas, with Jan leading our Social Security Disability practice and Hank focusing on personal injury and workers’ compensation cases. Over time, we expanded our reach, opening additional offices and growing alongside the communities we serve.
In 2000, Hank became a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law, reflecting our deep commitment to excellence in this area. As our firm continued to grow, we welcomed new attorneys who brought valuable experience and perspective.
