David Henson received his bachelor’s degree with academic distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1995. He then received his Juris Doctor from University of North Carolina School of Law in 1998. David currently focuses his professional time in the area of eminent domain and land condemnation, representing individuals, businesses, and churches confronted with having land taken from them by the government. David handles eminent domain cases across the state of North Carolina and regularly represents clients against the North Carolina Department of Transportation, local municipalities and cities, utility companies, school boards, water authorities and other condemning authorities. David believes passionately in the inviolate rights of landowners.

David has been actively involved in the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ) for more than 20 years. NCAJ is North Carolina’s state trial lawyer organization of more than 2,400 members who work to protect the rights of individuals. In recent years, David has served on the Board of Governors, Executive Committee in several vice-president roles, and innumerable committees and task forces. He will serve as NCAJ President during the 2020-2021 term, which he considers a truly great honor.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, David worked as a certified emergency medical technician. Being a first responder to accidents involving catastrophic injuries, he saw how the negligence of one person can drastically and dramatically change someone else’s life. For his first 15 years of practice, David handled personal injury, disability, and mass tort cases in his firm.

David is a firm believer in giving back to the community and has served on the Boards of multiple non-profit organizations in the community. In addition, he is an EMS Legal Education Presenter to the North Carolina Association of EMS Administrators, UNC Medical School, NCFPNA, and numerous county EMS agencies across the state. David is a partner with Henson Fuerst Attorneys, with offices in Raleigh and Rocky Mount.
